Travelling between Christchurch and Picton on the Coastal Pacific train service
I love trains. After attending our niece’s wedding in Christchurch we hopped on board the Coastal Pacific train that hugged the rugged east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. The journey takes five hours and used to run daily. Bush-clad mountains and vineyards on one side, the roaring sea on the other. Low cloud allowed just enough sunlight through to give the ocean a surreal glow.
Sadly since the 2016 earthquakes in the South Island, the Coastal Pacific train service has been suspended due to extensive damage to the tracks between Blenheim and Kaikoura. The last time I checked preliminary estimates moot mid-2018 for the service to continue to provide a spectacular experience for locals and visitors to the South Island.

This week, share something that glows. Maybe you’d like to experiment with some Golden Hour photography, or perhaps you know someone with a glowing smile. We’re excited to see what you share.
I, too, love trains. They seem the perfect way to soak up your surroundings in a leisurely way without worrying about traffic. The title of your post and the photograph of the ocean are perfectly matched.
