Being the Change

Recent events on the world stage have been overwhelming.  The tragedy and inhumane acts perpetrated by man toward man continue and in the midst of the global angst, the media helps keep the fires fuelled.

The tensions keep building as does the degree of anxiety and sense of futility for those of us who look on from the safety of our homes.

Thinking about where things were headed I remembered the prayer of the Franciscan monk that we learned at school.  It shows us that we can each make a difference.  If each one of us commits to being the difference we can change the emotional pulse of our community.

I hope you enjoy this video clip as much I do each time I listen, and I hope you feel lighter when the final notes fade away carrying with them that sense of powerlessness.

  1. It can all be so overwhelming, can’t it. Sometimes I despair!
I remember singing that song in church and loved it. Thanks for the lovely reminder, Linda. 🙂
There is a quote that is (apparently wrongly) attributed to Ghandi: “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
We can’t change the world, but we can have an effect on where we are right now. It’s what my dad always said.
